Hi.

Welcome to my exciting life

New Amsterdam

Ok, usually, New Amsterdam is one of the few medical shows that I enjoy. That’s because it usually focusses on the human stories rather than the medicine (which such shows invariably get wrong). So, WTF was up with last nights episode. I did like the whole opioid crisis story, however.

First off, they showed them defibrillating a patient. Just once, I would love to see just one show place the paddles correctly. Just once!

The story about the couple who discovered that they were brother and sister was just downright weird. It is not even an uncommon story amongst siblings raised separately, and there’s even a name for it (genetic sexual attraction). I should state that this is not a completely accepted phenomenon in the psychiatric community, but it is something that a psychiatrist would be very aware of.
